Shane Davidson
Was it always your plan to work with horses professionally?
For as long as I can remember.
What made you choose your current discipline?
I like the accuracy and gymnastic challenge of the dressage, the speed and quick decision making required on cross country, and the athletic skill required for the showjumping.
What qualities do you look for when choosing a new horse?
Ability and character
What is your favourite training exercise?
I have so many. Canter poles on the ground are fantastic.
What gets you out of bed every morning?
Everything. Being able to spend my time as a horse trainer, instructor, competitor and veterinarian.
How do you deal with the lows of the sport?
Look for new opportunities.
Your most embarrassing career moment?
There are so many! Mistakes are great for making you sharpen up and improve.
What would your advice be to an aspiring professional?
Have a go and surround yourself with the type of people you aspire to.
